Entry requirements
All programs are taught in English. English tests must be taken in person at a test center. IELTS Online, TOEFL iBT Home Edition and TOEFL PDT are not accepted.
- IELTS 5.5 (writing and reading 5.5, listening and speaking 5.0) or the equivalent TOEFL score
- One of NUET 120 in total (at least 50 in each section), Digital SAT 1140 or ACT 24
- IELTS 6.0 (writing 6.0, reading, listening and speaking 5.5) or the equivalent TOEFL score. Conditional admission is possible with IELTS 5.5 overall and no section below 5.5.
- School GPA 4.0 on a 5.0 scale (your national grades are converted to this scale)
- Digital SAT 1240 or ACT 26
- IB Diploma 27 points, with at least 4, 4, 4 in three Higher Level subjects
- A-levels: at least BBB in any three subjects
- Requirements are set by each school and depend on the program. You will need an IELTS or TOEFL certificate.

Visa information for students from Uzbekistan

You receive your NU Offer Letter.
Enter without a visa
Citizens of Uzbekistan can enter Kazakhstan without a visa.
NU arranges your permit
The University applies for your Temporary Residence Permit (TRP). It is issued for up to one year and renewed every year.
Arrive in Astana
NU notifies the migration police within three days. You do not need to go there yourself.
Finish your documents
In your first days, visit the Department of Internationalization (Block 1, office 1.248D) to get your IIN (individual number) and complete fingerprint registration.
Four steps:
- Online application: fill in the form and upload your documents.
- Shortlisting: the admissions committee of your school reviews your application.
- Interview: shortlisted candidates have a video call or face-to-face interview.
- Results: you receive the decision by email and your offer letter in your personal account.
The application fee for Foundation and Bachelor's programs is 10,000 tenge (30,000 tenge in the last two weeks before the first deadline).
Yes. Your school grades are converted to NU's 5.0 GPA scale. For Bachelor's programs you need a GPA of 4.0, or an SAT, ACT, IB or A-level result instead.
Yes. With IELTS 5.5 overall and no section below 5.5, you can get conditional admission to a Bachelor's program. The Foundation Year also accepts IELTS 5.5.
No. All international applicants are considered automatically. Make sure you apply before the financial aid deadline, which is earlier than the main application deadline.
- Accommodation on campus is guaranteed for international students. More than 80% of NU students live on campus.
- First-year students live in rooms for three or four people, and from the second year in double rooms.
- Rooms have beds, desks, closets and Wi-Fi, and every floor has a shared kitchen.
- The halls have laundry rooms, study rooms, a medical office, mini markets and canteens, with reception and security 24/7.
